St. George Church Interior
Our Heritage

Founded on Faith, Serving Since 1902

St. George Orthodox Church in Puthuppally, Kottayam, stands as one of the oldest and most revered parishes of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. For over a century, this sacred space has been a beacon of faith, prayer, and community for thousands of families across Kerala and the diaspora.

Consecrated in 1902 and built on the foundations laid by our forefathers, the church has grown from a small congregation into a vibrant parish community that carries on the ancient traditions of the Syriac Orthodox liturgy while embracing the needs of a modern world.

What We Believe

Our Core Values

These principles are the foundation of everything we do as a parish community rooted in the Orthodox Christian tradition.

Liturgical Worship

The Holy Qurbana (Divine Liturgy) is the heart of our faith. We worship in the ancient Syriac tradition, connecting us to the earliest Christians.

🤝

Community Service

Faith without action is incomplete. We actively serve the poor, the sick, and the vulnerable through our parish welfare programs.

📖

Biblical Teaching

Rooted in Holy Scripture and the Holy Tradition of the Church, we nurture each member in sound Orthodox Christian doctrine and living.

🙏

Intercessory Prayer

We believe in the power of prayer — individual, corporate, and intercessory. Our priests offer prayers daily for the intentions of our parishioners.

👶

Faith Formation

From Sunday School to youth fellowship, we invest in the spiritual formation of every generation to carry the torch of Orthodox faith forward.

🌍

Global Mission

We reach out beyond our parish borders, supporting missions and diaspora communities around the world who carry our Keralan Orthodox heritage.
